Counsel for consequential decisions. Leadership, culture, and talent consulting for K-12 districts, higher education, and government agencies — on site and remote.
Velez Advisory Partners is built on a simple premise: the person who sells the work does the work. Dr. Velez leads every engagement personally — he designs the research, sits in the interviews, writes the findings, and stands in front of your board.
Where an engagement needs a specialist — a psychometrician, a bargaining analyst, a facilitator for a large cohort — he brings one in, and names them to you before they start. What does not happen is the thing you have seen before: a principal in the pitch, a junior in the room.
In the public sector, the person at the table is the person the board, the faculty senate, or the public expects to see. That is who shows up.
Founder & Principal
Dr. Angel L. Velez is a workforce strategy and organizational effectiveness leader with more than 15 years of experience advancing leadership development, inclusive cultures, and the future of work across K-12, higher education, government, and corporate settings. He founded Velez Advisory Partners on a simple conviction: trust is earned in behavior, and culture change should be measured, not assumed. He holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, serves as Vice President of the Chicago Board of Education and on the Chicago Reparations Taskforce, and brings deep experience working within complex, unionized public-sector environments, including board-level participation in ratifying a collective bargaining agreement. He also brings 10 years of research experience in higher education and was named to Negocios Now’s 40 Under 40.
Culture isn’t what’s on the website; it’s what happens in the hallway. We measure the distance between the two and close it — behavior by behavior, measured as we go.
Recommendations come from primary research with your own employees — triangulated, benchmarked, and reported in aggregates employees can trust.
The fastest way to destroy trust is to ask and go silent. Findings go to the people who can act on them, in writing, without softening for the sponsor.
We aim for obsolescence in delivery. Your team should run the listening program, the training, and the measurement system without us — and we hand every one of those over, with the re-measurement built in.
We do not aim for obsolescence in counsel. The decisions only you can make keep coming.
Thirty minutes with Dr. Velez. He will tell you honestly whether this is the right firm for the decision in front of you — and if it is not, who is.
